About the Founder

The founder, Annesha Archyangelio is a distinguished and highly experienced healthcare executive with decades of experience across the National Health Service (NHS), private sector, public health and global nursing organisations. She is currently Regional Director of Nursing for Direct Commissioning at NHS England, providing regional and system wide leadership across more than 30 NHS hospitals, plus other services and is deputy to the Regional Chief Nurse. Her portfolio spans governance, patient safety, quality assurance, workforce transformation and performance oversight across complex multi provider systems, with a special interest in talent development of people.

Originally from Jamaica, Annesha began her nursing career before relocating to the United Kingdom, where she progressed through senior roles in acute, community, mental health, integrated care and national policy. She is widely recognised for authoring The Matrons’ Handbook and The International Healthcare Professionals’ Handbook, both used nationally and internationally to support workforce transition, leadership development and professional excellence for nurses, midwives and allied health professionals. Her wider contributions have been acknowledged through national commendations, including recognition in the Health Service Journal.

Throughout her regional and national leadership roles, Annesha has delivered measurable system impact, achieving significant reductions in high risk quality issues, accelerating Care Quality Commission (CQC) improvement cycles, strengthening governance maturity and embedding the full implementation of Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF). She has led major neonatal as part of maternity safety programmes aligned with national reviews, strengthened risk intelligence across regulated services, and advanced health inequalities work within Learning Disability and Autism (LDA), Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Children and Young People (CYP) and palliative/end of life care portfolios.

Her leadership during the Covid 19 pandemic further demonstrated her resilience, strategic clarity and ability to guide complex systems during high risk operational periods. A lead digital transformation, Annesha has overseen the implementation of Electronic Patient Record (EPR) systems across dozens of hospitals, improving data quality, safety intelligence and regional assurance. She has also created and led large scale professional networks, including Deputy Director of Nursing networks and some of England’s largest Professional Nurse Advocate (PNA) programmes, strengthening capability, supervision and retention.

She has served as former Director of Nursing at Barts Health London, Regional Director of Nursing-Professional and System Development Southeast, Chief Nursing Officer Fellow Professional Leadership NHS England & NHS Improvement, Director of Infection Prevention and Control, Executive Board Trustee and Clinical Governance Adviser at Peace Hospice Care, and an executive level member of the RCN Board East of England (EoE).

Her earlier clinical career spans ICU, oncology, orthopaedics, infection prevention and control and specialist nurse consultancy, grounding her senior leadership in robust clinical expertise.

She speaks regularly at national and international forums, including the International Council of Nurses (ICN), RCN Congress, Nursing Times Summits and NHS England leadership boards, and contributes to global workforce programmes, AI enabled education initiatives and international partnerships.

Academically accomplished, Annesha holds multiple degrees, advanced leadership qualifications and honorary academic appointments. She is completing doctoral level research focused on global workforce leadership/talent management. A Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole Scholar, she has been recognised with national awards, including the Chief Nursing Officer for England’s Nursing Directorate Award.
